When this online florist came to us in July 2024, their Google Ads account was struggling, big time. 

Despite investing heavily in Google Ads, their ROAS had dipped well below where it needed to be. And the worst part? They were actually losing money during their biggest sales windows—Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

After burning through a few agencies their goal was clear:  Keep ROAS above 800%, especially during peak trade.

We started by fixing the foundations of the account –

  • Search term analysis to cut the deadweight
  • Budget optimisation to stop overspending on low-intent clicks
  • Negative keyword buildout to clean up search traffic
  • Our in-house client scripts to spot hidden waste and surface what was actually driving conversions
  • Culling poor campaigns that were chewing up budget without driving results

We knew the account had potential. The demand was there. The products were in place. But the structure and targeting just weren’t giving Google what it needed to perform. So we rebuilt the strategy from the ground up.

The cornerstone was a segmented Performance Max approach. Instead of running everything through one generic campaign, we created multiple campaigns based on product performance. This allowed us to deliver more budget to top performing products and squeeze as much out of them.

Our strategy also supported Performance Max with a non-brand search campaign, built around high performing search terms.. We dug into the account reports to uncover exactly what people were typing when they were converting, then shaped our keyword strategy around that. Then, we continually built out these keywords with additional match types and terms each and every week. 

Throughout it all, we combined optimisation with our custom scripts to flag inefficient spend and additional opportunities for growth. 

It was this balance — strategic structure, smart targeting, and hands-on optimisation — that made the difference.

The client’s primary goal — a ROAS over 800% — was not only achieved, but exceeded.

More importantly, they scaled revenue significantly across both key sales periods, with lower ad spend and stronger conversion performance.

  • Cost decreased by 25% (from $68.6k → $51k)

  • Revenue increased by 77% (from $252k → $446k)

  • Conversions up by 66% (from 1,859 → 3,090)
